Meet the Team: Erika

play icon Erika, with long hair flowing, takes a selfie outdoors in the desert landscape at sunset. She's smiling, with rocky terrain and sparse vegetation visible in the background. The clear sky and soft, warm light illuminate the scene beautifully.

Erika (she/her) is a member of Sparrow’s Customer Experience team. Let’s get to know Erika!

How did you get to where you are?

I like to think I get to places simply by taking one step at a time. I don’t like to rush through things because I am a process oriented person. I think it’s important to be flexible in the path forward, since I went to school for graphic design, moved into hair and makeup, and ended up with the team at Sparrow. All of my careers require flexibility and the ability to support and assist others.

What is a fun fact about you?

I love all things food. It is my passion.

Why did you join Sparrow?

I joined Sparrow because of the people. Everyone I met through the interview process was so personable and open to my questions.

What is your favorite part of working at Sparrow?

Hands down, the people! We collaborate on everything, and anytime we have any questions there are always multiple people who will try and help. I can’t imagine a better team to support me with my many questions.

Have you picked up any hobbies since COVID started?

Cooking more recipes including fluffy Chinese dumplings. I also picked up backcountry snowboarding, backpacking, and trying out sailing for the first time.

What’s the last show you binge-watched?

I’ve binge watched all seasons of Ted Lasso because Jason Sudeikis and Brett Goldstein are such great actors, and the writing is great sports-comedy-drama.

What’s the farthest you’ve ever been from home?

Japan. One of my favorite memories in Japan was going to a summer festival with fireworks. The food stalls were amazing and seeing everyone dressed in a yukata was so amazing to see and experience. If anyone is going to Japan, I always recommend getting a Japan Rail Pass prior to arriving (so you can experience the bullet train), planning to eat 4 meals a day (because the food is AMAZING), going to the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium (to see the whale sharks!), and extending your trip to at least 4 weeks (so you can really explore and enjoy the sounds of life in Japan).
