Meet the Team: Chris

play icon Chris is in a purple cap and gray jacket with a teal collar as he takes a selfie on a lush, green golf course with the ocean and rocky cliffs in the background under a bright blue sky.

Chris (he/him) is a member of Sparrow’s Sales team. Let’s get to know Chris!

How did you get to where you are?

I have always enjoyed working in customer-facing roles, and I was provided the opportunity to transition into SaaS sales. Instantly I fell in love with sales because every day and every customer is truly unique. Being open-minded and curious are two characteristics that have allowed me to find success in my sales career.

What is a fun fact about you?

I have been riding motorcycles since I was 3 years old. It all started when my dad put me on a dirt bike, and as I got older, I began to ride motorcycles on the street.

Why did you join Sparrow?

At one of my previous organizations, we had 4 people go out on parental leave in a 3 month period. When each of them came back from leave, they all said how painful filing their claim with the state was. I even had one of my colleagues who sat next to me spend multiple hours on hold with the CA EDD because their claim wasn’t properly processed. I just figured the process was painful until I was introduced to Sparrow. I joined Sparrow because the product doesn’t just save organizations time and money, but it also provides a stress-free leave experience for the employee taking leave.

What is your favorite part of working at Sparrow?

Honestly it might sound generic or corny, but my favorite part of working at Sparrow is my colleagues. Everyone at Sparrow is mission driven and team oriented. I’ve never experienced a moment where I felt alone, or as if I was on an island to figure something out on my own. There is a collaborative culture at Sparrow that starts with the leadership and permeates throughout the organization.

What’s the last show you binge-watched?

I recently binge watched the series Warrior on HBO Max. The show resonated with me because my great grandmother immigrated to San Francisco from Hong Kong in the early 1900s.

What’s the farthest you’ve ever been from home?

My trip to the Philippines is the farthest I’ve ever been from home. Thanks to a quick search, I found out that Manila is 6,951 miles from home. I would love the opportunity to explore every country in the South Pacific. I really enjoyed visiting Taal Lake and spending time at some natural warm springs in Los Baños.
